  • Prematurity (premature babies) or low birth weight
  • Down syndrome

Children or adults whom we work with for feeding or swallowing difficulties may present as having:

  • Dysphagia (also known as a swallowing disorder), where they cough or choke during meals
  • Fussy eating behaviours or are problem feeders
  • Sucking difficulties on the bottle or breast
  • Chewing difficulties
  • Excessive drooling
  • Tubefeeding and have difficulties weaning off the tube
  • Oral Hypo or hypersensitivity
  • Difficulties weaning to solids and have delayed texture progression
  • Slow weight gain and poor growth

Our feeding team strives to help each child/adult, parents and caregivers to support oral feeding and safe swallowing, and provide the best nutrition possible. Our aim is to help your child, adults and families enjoy their food as pleasurably and safely as possible. Not being able to feed or eat well can be frustrating, worrying and even miserable. We understand how it feels not being able to take your favourite food, or not being able to share the enjoyable experience of eating with your loved ones. The little children with feeding difficulties, are the little beans that we look forward to working with. We aim to optimise their feeding, swallowing and growth potential. We are also passionate about helping adults with swallowing difficulties to achieve the safest possible means of oral intake.
