Brian So
Speech Therapist
Brian was awarded the Ministry of Health’s Overseas Specialist Scholarship in the year 2000 and trained in the University of Sydney. After graduating with First-class honours, he went on to work in Singapore General Hospital. It was there that he specialised in paediatrics and was appointed to be one of the heads of the paediatric department. He often collaborates with doctors, parents and teachers to help children achieve their fullest communicative potential at home and in school.
Brian is regularly involved in creating public awareness of communication impairments present in the paediatric population. He participated as a speaker in public forums and has been invited, on several occasions, to contribute articles on communication issues, relating to children, to various parenting websites. He has been featured in The Straits Times and has given a radio interview on the topic of Autism in 93.8 LIVE.
Brian is qualified to administer a variety of screening and diagnostic assessments, including language, phonological awareness and pragmatic profile questionnaires. His strength is in interpreting assessment information and translating the information into appropriate and effective intervention strategies.

What Parents Say
Father of Liang (10 years old)
As a parent of a child diagnosed with ASD, our journey has been both challenging and rewarding. Liang has made remarkable progress through speech and feeding therapy. From starting with simple 1-2 word utterances, he can now confidently express himself in longer phrases.
In the journey of food exploration, we began with only mixed salmon vegetable rice, gradually expanding to sandwiches, chicken chop and spaghetti. Each step reflects Liang’s growing comfort with different textures and flavours.
We are especially grateful for Brian, whose guidance has been invaluable on this ongoing journey of support, intervention, and progress. With Brian’s help, our child has attained a level where he can get into Pathlight, a testament to his growth and readiness for new challenges. The combination of speech and feeding therapy, coupled with Brian’s expertise, has played a crucial role in our child’s development.
Mother of E (ASD, Non Verbal, 8 years old)
My son who has been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum (ASD), has been going to Magic Beans for the past 6 years since he was 3 years old. He has improved significantly, from being nonverbal when he first started therapy to now being able to communicate in proper sentences.
Our speech therapist, Brian So, uses effective methods and techniques to help improve his speech and articulation. On top of that, Brian is always patient and good with children. Highly recommended!
